Sony F3

Sony’s F3 camera takes the DSLR paradigm into the video camera format. Based on a CMOS sensor similar to the 5D’s full-frame sensor, the F3 uses a PL lens mount for professional film lenses. The camera records 1080 HD video at up to 60 FPS to Sony’s XDCAM EX MPEG-2 format. Additionally, the F3 is equipped with an HD-SDI connection which can send an uncompressed 4:4:4 video signal to an external video recorder. An external video recorder can record images of a higher image quality than the compressed images stored onboard the camera’s SxS cards. Though, the extra equipment might complicate location shooting.
