Canon SLR’s

The Canon 5D Mark II is currently the most popular of the DSLR cameras used for film production. The combination of high quality images and low price relative to other cameras makes the 5D, and several other DSLRs, popular with a range of productions. The camera does have its downsides, however. For instance, audio on the camera is basically unusable for professional purposes. Though, it is possible to record a scratch track with the camera which can be used to sync separately recorded sound to picture in post. As the 5D shoots video, it creates a thumbnail (.THM) file for each clip. This file carries an accurate timecode stamp that can be utilized by Katabatic Lab to apply timecode to the video files to assist the editing, grading and on-line process.
